— taken before voting started — favored Britain staying in the EU. The U.K.
currency has advanced 3 percent so far this week.
Until the Brexit voting
closes at 5 p.m. ET, or 10 p.m. ET London time, media restrictions in Britain
are in place. After the votes have been counted, an indication of the final
result could emerge at around 11 p.m. ET, or 4 a.m. London time.
